Finish Unfinished Basement
Our clients in Silver Spring, Maryland wanted to transform their unfinished basement into something amazing. Their vision was to create a haven for entertainment and relaxation. The couple has two boys, so it was important to create a space where they can spend quality time together.
Our clients have a ton of room in their basement but are not fully utilizing the space. For that reason, they reached out to the Cyrus Construction team. We worked with the couple to reconfigure their layout to optimize its potential. Renovations include removing the wall enclosing the gym, building a bathroom for overnight guests, and installing a fun wet bar!

Before: The Unfinished Basement
The basement had a lot of potentials– it was just a matter of discovering it. Here, you can see it was mostly used for storage.
Wet Bar
For a wet bar, it’s important to install appropriate flooring in case of spills. By using vinyl tile, it won’t lose its integrity if exposed to liquid. The homeowner chose a quartz countertop that paired perfectly with the soft gray cabinets. The wet bar is topped off with a sink, running water, refrigerator, and wine rack.
Media/Recreation Area
We knocked down a wall isolating a gym to create one huge media and recreation area. The media room now serves as a hub dedicated to movie nights and football Sundays for this sports-loving family.
Bathroom
Considering the amount of space available and time spent in the basement, it only seems fitting to include a bathroom. The sink is made from the leftover countertop and cabinet material from the wet bar.
As a result, the homeowners and Cyrus team turned an unfinished basement into something great. We achieved a usable space that will host many fun gatherings ahead!
